Dave is a survivor of the 2002 Bali bombings and was treated by the staff at Royal Perth hospital under the leadership of Fiona Wood. Dave is passionate about furthering research to ensure a better quality of life for burns patients. June Campaign Update
June 2025 Update I am delighted to share the first newsletter of the Horizon Campaign. Our goal is to raise $15 million for a Research Innovation Fund to establish a Centre for Burns Research Innovation and Translation, with Professor Fiona Wood AO as the inaugural Chair. Burn research needs significant investment from bench to bedside. Yet breakthroughs too often stall when researchers must pause their vital work to apply for grants. Every gap in funding delays discoveries—delays that burn survivors and their families cannot afford.

Government House, Perth Event Highlights In early April, the Governor of Western Australia, the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM, hosted a reception at Government House, Perth. Supporters were able to hear the brave story of 20 year burn anniversary patient Kevin Fuchsbichler and more about how the Foundation’s important work is improving the lives of those affected by burns through ground-breaking research and patient-centred care.
