The extraordinary power of research

The Fiona Wood Foundation aims to be at the forefront of global research and discovery in the area of burns and scarring.
By continually growing the body of knowledge in the field, our work will save lives and make a significant difference to the recovery of people who have sustained burn injuries, both locally and worldwide.
Why do we need a Research Innovation Fund?

Burn research needs to be reliably funded from bench to bedside.
Yet breakthroughs often stall when researchers pause their vital work to apply for grants. Every lapse in funding delays life-changing discoveries—delays that burn survivors and their families cannot afford.

By establishing the Research Innovation Fund
With a starting base of $15M, we can provide a stable foundation for progress. Researchers will have the freedom to focus on what truly matters: pushing the boundaries of science, accelerating discoveries, and delivering faster impact to those who need it most.

The Research Innovation Fund will empower our brightest minds
To direct their own paths, set the pace of progress, and transform lives without interruption.
